Vintage Knole Sofa. Two seater knole sofa – mid 20th century with loose feather seat cushions and two elaborate tassels to hold the side panels. A real country house piece, currently serviceable but also would benefit from recovering.
This is a classic knole sofa, named after the first made in the 17th century and housed at Knole in Kent This was a house owned by the Sackville-Wests and is now in the hands of the National Trust. They feature adjustable side arms – the same height as the back and are tied to it by means of heavy tassels, there is always a good depth of seating.
