Victorian Painted Chest. Good quality brass bound trunk with brass carrying handles and key operated lock.  Also key operated lock to the internal candle box.  The top is very slightly domed but would still allow that glass of wine!  The Trunk is  sign written with the name of the owner Dr Richard Knightly-Smith – 1897-1980 and the old paint is a matt black.   There is accompanying paperwork to show that the Doctor was in the first World War and lost a leg at Passchendale.  After the war he studied at St. Bartholomew’s and eventually became a consultant in London.
