Bleached Oak Bureau Bookcase – European – 19th century. This is a very attractive two door bureau bookcase in two sections for ease of movement. The fall front reveals a lovely bank of small drawers and central miniature cupboard. At the top there is an attractive carved gallery with small spheres to each end. Underneath is a cornice and then a pair of nicely panelled cupboard doors.
The fall front is supported by two robust supports with brass knobs which pull out. Underneath are three good wide drawers with attractive brass escutcheons There are the original keys. A small key opens the top section and all drawers.
In addition, there is a good large key which opens the bureau section only. Standing on good bracket feet this is a great storage piece. Taking up reasonably little floor space, this statement piece uses its height to full effect. The bleached look is very contemporary and combines an antique with a modern take.
