Wonderful Dolls House

<< Back

Once in a while you come across something really special and such was the case with this  doll's house.  Large by most standards and made in the early 20th century sometime but very hard to date, the style is pure Georgian and could well have have been modelled on a specific house, nice to think it might have been made by the estate carpenter where the child actually lived.

Genuinely untouched or modified, this beautiful doll's house boasts real glass windows and an impressive doorway. The  pitched wooden roof is beautifully made with supporting joists and topped by chimneys. It comprises nine rooms and a central staircase with ballustrading. The rooms are wallpapered and there are even pictures on the walls.

The back and front sections are hinged and lift off as well as the roof, making it easy to move.  Although it has original paint one can see the outline of the dovetails down each corner bearing witness to the standard of work.  The house stands on lovely old casters, again making it easy to transport.

It stood on display in one of the windows at Tudor Rose Antiques and Interiors for only 2 days and was snapped up by an eager buyer.
